This year&#8217;s theme, the <strong>Family Readiness Roadmap<\/strong>, helps you extend that same everyday readiness to emergencies. Have you thought about:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What to do if you&nbsp;aren\u2019t&nbsp;with your family when an emergency happens?&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to quickly&nbsp;get in touch with&nbsp;everyone?&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Planning&nbsp;doesn\u2019t&nbsp;take as long as you think!&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Take ten minutes to fill out our contact list (or copy it down) and put it somewhere easy to find.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Talk with your family for five minutes at the dinner table.&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose an out-of-town contact everyone can call during an emergency.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pick a backup meeting place where everyone can go if&nbsp;you\u2019re&nbsp;separated.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button gb-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-text-color has-background has-custom-font-size wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/readywake.com\/es\/make-a-plan\/\" style=\"border-radius:5px;color:#ffffff;background-color:#fcb900;padding-top:10px;padding-right:1em;padding-bottom:10px;padding-left:1em;font-size:20px;line-height:1.2\">M\u00e1s informaci\u00f3n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading preparedness-section-heading\">Stop 3: Build a Kit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You have a plan \u2013 the next step is gathering supplies! Think about:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What you and your kids need to survive without help for three days.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Items you would need if power or water is shut off.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Babies,&nbsp;pets&nbsp;and family members with special needs.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting an emergency kit&nbsp;doesn\u2019t&nbsp;have to be expensive! You might have some items at home already. Review our checklist to get started.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Take stock at home. But readiness&nbsp;doesn\u2019t&nbsp;stop here. Think ahead and do your research about what happens in case of emergency.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take twenty minutes to answer these questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How can you get an emergency supply of your family\u2019s prescription medications?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are there friends or family members outside this area you can stay with in case of evacuation? Give them a call or send a text!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can your pets come with you to your evacuation location? If not, where can they stay safely?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find planning resources just for pets at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wake.gov\/departments-government\/animal-services\/pet-owners\/emergency-preparedness-pets-their-families\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wake.gov\/petprep<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What important documents would you need to bring with you?
